I have the honour to report that I have

granted to Mr. William Fisher, Inspector in charge of the Animal Depots, four months' vacation leave on full pay, and with the advice of the Executive Council, eight months' leave of absence on half pay; leave to commence on the 20th. instant. Satisfactory arrangements have been made for the discharge of Inspector Fisher's duties during his absence.
2. The usual leave certificate is enclosed.

3. I have granted this leave with some besi-
tation, as Mr. Fisher has intimated his intention of retiring from the date of its expiry, when he will have attained the age of 55 years. His application for leave was, however, based
on urgent private affairs, as to the nature of which he has satisfied me, and the fact that a large balance of half pay
leave stands to his credit in respect of his past service
would appear to justify some relaxation of Colonial Office
Regulation No.135 in his favour, and more especially in view
