P. S. In the above figures I have not taken
into calculation the increase in expenditure and reductions
to meet which would be rendered necessary if the post of
Assistant Superintendent of Police were revived, but I have
shewn in my minute of the 13th, instant how provision could
be made for almost the whole of the salary that I have re-
commended for the appointment.
