of 1887. In section 17 of the latter ordeinase the terms of section 4 of the former Ordinance are repeated almost word

for word.

On the 9th. March, 1895, the Petitioner was sworn in for a term of 5 years in accordance with sec.13 of Ord.14 of 1887. He was therefore subject to the provisions of the said Ordinance, I attach copy of Petitioner's attesta- tion paper,which is in the form prescribed by schedule III of Ord. XIV of 1887.

I would also draw attention to sec.5 of Ord.

8 of 1869 & sec.18 of Ord. 14 of 1887.

If a pension had been granted to Petitioner

it would be lawful for the Governor in Council, if satisfied that the Petitioner had been guilty of corrupt practices to revoke the grant of such pension.

The Petitioner's original agreement did not

and could not render him exempt from these special laws go-

verning the whole Police Force.
