executors were then (11th.October) residing in the Colony.

On 15th.October Messrs. Johnson Stokes & Mas-

ter informed the Crown Solicitor that they believed a power of attorney was on its way from the Executors and should be here within 3 or 4 weeks.

On 26th. October Messrs. Johnson Stokes & Mas- ter wrote that they were writing to the executors in England on the subject of the Crown Solicitor's letter of 8th.Octo- ber (1.e. the one containing the offer of $316,000 for the property) and that on receiving their instructions they

would write again to the Crown Solicitor.

Then on 10th. December, in reply to subsequent letters,Messrs. Johnson, Stokes & Master write that "steps

have been taken with regard to obtaining instructions from the executors of the late Mr. B. Sharp who are all in England

on the subject of your letter" (i.e. letter of 8th. October,

or offer).

On 15th. December the Crown Solicitor asks who

are the owners and whether they have any authorised repre-

sentative in this Colony.

On 20th, December,Messrs. Johnson, Stokes & Mas

ter reply "Representation to the estate has not yet been

obtained as it takes some little time to make out the neces

Sary valuation for probate purposes" adding "We shall act
