I have the honour to forwardfor the informa-
tion of His Excellency the Governor a report made to me by
the Chief Warder of the Gaol under yesterday's date, a copy
of the statement made entirely voluntarily and spontaneously
by the prisoner Witchell yesterday, and copy of a statement
made by the same prisoner to me this morning.
When the prisoner asked for an interview
with me I had no idea what he wanted it for.
