I submit, Sir, that the inadequacy of my present salary is manifest from the above three considerations: viz:
1.
2. Promotion from a small school to the charge of a larger one after 15 years, without recognition of length of Service.
3. Precedent, afforded by increase of salary to other officers.
I have the honor to be
Sir,
Your most obedient servant,
Patison Wright.

P.S. I should add that on my return to the Colony at the end of 1891, I immediately drew attention to the fact that the salary of the Head Master had not been raised on his promotion to the charge of the larger College, and accordingly applied for a Personal Allowance. His Excellency the Governor replied, early in 1892, that it was not then the time to raise this particular question, but soon after the general increase of salaries to raise this part of the question.

this morning. I gather therefrom that his reason for applying is that he thinks there will be some difficulty with the dollar when he gets back to the Colony.
Of course, he cannot be paid at 4/ for the period of the voyage.

He did not seem to have any other reason for asking for the advance.
I told him the grant of advances was rare and I should refer it unless he has any specially strong reasons.
