On the ... བྷཝེ ... to the Military in Cyprus 2nd August 1891, Appointed Superintendent of Victoria Gaol on the 10th July 1892.

In the early part of 1895 I was informed that it was decided to amalgamate my appointment as Superintendent of Victoria Gaol with that of Captain Superintendent of Police.

I was subsequently obliged to bring my family to Hong Kong with a probable long stay over me making ... domestic arrangements. This was one of the chief reasons why I accepted the appointment offered me in the British Prison service.

As the decision to amalgamate the offices of Superintendent of Victoria Gaol and Captain Superintendent of Police amounted practically to the abolition of the former office, I trust that the Secretary of State may be pleased to grant my request.

I have the honor to be,

Your obedient servant,

AB Sethwrap

Superintendent, Victoria Gaol, Hong Kong
