and I trust that the Secretary of State may be pleased to support my application
I have the honor &c.,
Joi,
Your most obedient servant,
4 Blethtray
Superintendent Victoria Gaol, Stanley
My dear Lord,
I understand that you are desirous of obtaining an appointment in the Prison service at home. You have asked for a testimonial as to your fitness for the office of Governor of a British gaol.
You have been in stryding 4 years and have acted either as Superintendent of the gaol, or acting Captain Superintendent of the Police (660 men) during the whole of that period to my entire satisfaction.
I am happy to be able to add conscientiously that I consider you eminently qualified for such an appointment.
I hope you are anxious to obtain and may be successful.
Very truly yours,
(Signed) William Robinson
Governor &c. &c.
