As practicable on this account, I am prepared, should you be disposed to favourably entertain my application, to accept some sacrifice in the better love of my prospects of promotion and future in this country for that Colony.
I am due to leave this Country for Hongkong on 26th proximo, I would respectfully solicit an early consideration of my application for the above-mentioned appointment under Government in any Colony not so distant from England as Hongkong.
This application would be made with an expression of regret that I have only recently realised the urgency of making it, due to circumstances in my official career.
Regarding my qualifications, I would respectfully report a reference to The Colonial Office List.
