Under Secretary,
One of the terms under which Warder McMullan was appointed to the Hong Kong Prisons Service was as follows:-
"Under Treasury rules the service at home of any pensionable officers transferred to any Colonial Service will eventually count for pension from Imperial Government, provided the officer does not retire before attaining the age of 60, except on ground of ill-health or abolition of office".
Warder McMullan having retired from the Colonial Service on ground of ill-health not having completed 10 years' service - is entitled, it is presumed, to the usual gratuity in respect of his years' service as a Prison Warder in Ireland from 11th November 1889 to 21st November, 1895, he having during this period served with diligence and fidelity and to the satisfaction of the General Prisons Board.
15th November, 1897.
