INES?

RECE 17 JUL 97

Sir,

I am directed by the Lords Justices to acquaint you for the information of the Secretary of State for the Colonies that the Inspector General of the Royal Irish Constabulary has referred to Their Excellencies, for their necessary sanction, the proposal in your Letter of the 8th instant, 13757/97, that the services of an Officer of that Force of the rank of District Inspector should be lent for one year to act under the Captain Superintendent of Police &c. in Hong Kong, in whatever capacity his services may be required, on the terms laid down in your letter.

In making his submission the Inspector General states that he sees no objection to the granting of the application provided no expense to the Royal Irish Constabulary Vote is incurred, and that the Officer selected for the duty is seconded, and his vacancy filled meanwhile; and Their Excellencies have now intimated to the Inspector General their assent to the proposal on these conditions.

The Under Secretary of State,

Colonial Office,

London S.W.

I am,

Sir,

Your obedient Servant,
