6. In the Accounts for 1895 certain items of Receipt have been deducted from the gross payments chargeable to the Sub-Heads affected.
The sums so deducted amounted to $49,048.
Assets and Liabilities.
7. The Statement of Assets and Liabilities shows an excess of Assets over Liabilities on 31st December 1895 of $557,374, as compared with $1,419,938 at the close of the year 1894.
To the amount of the Liabilities stated to be outstanding, should be added a sum of $8,583, paid in June 1896, being the balance of the amount of the Military Contribution, due at the rate of 17% of the gross Revenue (exclusive of Premia on Land Sales).
A note to the Treasurer's Statement of Assets and Liabilities shows that the unexpended balance of the 1893 Loan was $729,282.
The arrears of Revenue, as shown in the Statement, amounted to $51,717 on 31st December 1895, as
