"-ordinary" and "Public Works Recurrent", the actual excesses under individual Heads have been sanctioned and legalised by the above-mentioned Supplementary Ordinance, with the exception of the Expenditure amounting to $900 on the Salisbury Road in Kowloon.
The "Detailed Statement of Expenditure", furnished by the Treasurer, is appended hereto.
The Sub-Head "Audit" has been charged with a sum of $1,842, being the amount of "Exchange Compensation" granted to the Audit Staff during the year. The Compensation Allowance paid to other Officers of the Colony is charged to a special Sub-Head under "Miscellaneous Services".
5. Expenditure amounting to $3,785, was incurred in connection with the erection of the Queen's Statue during 1895. This amount was charged against the Loan in the Treasurer's Accounts, but in the Secretary of State's Despatch to the Governor of 27th May 1896, it was directed that the amount should be charged against current Revenue.
