Expenditure.
The total Expenditure of $2,972,373, exceeded the total Estimate by $904,672, and was larger also than the Expenditure of 1894 by $673,277.
The excesses on the various Heads amounted in gross, as shown in the Account, to $976,691.
The net excesses under the various Heads, with the exception of "Public Works Recurrent" and "Public Works Extraordinary," have been duly sanctioned and legalised by Supplementary Appropriation Ordinance No 17 of 1896. Under the first mentioned Heads, however, excesses under certain Sub-Heads have been met out of Savings under other Sub-Heads, but I have not been furnished with the authority of the Secretary of State for their being so defrayed, as required by Rule No 47 of the Colonial Audit Regulations 1893.
