I am directed by the Secretary of State for War to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 27th ultimo 1829/97, respecting a petition from certain inhabitants of the Colony of Hong Kong objecting to the acquisition by the War Department of the Mount Austin Hotel, and to acquaint you for the information of the Secretary of State for the Colonies that the decision communicated by telegram to Sir W. Robinson has been noted.
