With reference to your letter dated 8 April on the subject of the extrusion of land leased to the Hong Kong and Whampoa Dock Company, I am directed by the Secretary of State for War to inform you that as the two sites (A and B) of the Depression Range Finding Stations are small, and so close together, they may be assumed to be of equal value; and that in further valuations of these is therefore not required.

2. As regards the land transferred to the Dock Company however, its value should be recorded for future use under the conditions contained in the Colonial Office circular of 30 December 1894, and which has been accepted by the Hong Kong Government.

3. I am to request that a return be furnished.

General Officer Commanding,

Hong Kong
