SIR,

I am directed by the Secretary of State for War to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 24th Instant

and to acquaint you in reply that, for the information of the Secretary of State for the Colonies, the Marquis of Lansdowne has

4. no objection to Captain J. Stirling, Coldstream Guards, being allowed to continue as Aide-de-Camp to Sir W. Robinson, K.C.M.G., until the expiration of his term of office as Governor of Hong Kong, i.e., until December next.

This officer will remain seconded in his Regiment; and will draw no pay from Army Funds whilst thus employed.
