In reply to your letter of the 12th instant, 2673/97

relative to the proposed additions to the Defence Works of

Hong Kong,- I am directed by the Secretary of State for War

to give now for the information of Mr Secretary Chamberlain

the following details of the expenditure proposed on works in

War Office letter of 3rd February, 1897, Hong Kong 5/4919.

Stonecutters Shore Battery Emplacements and communications for two 4·7in. Q.F. Guns. £5,900 Belchers Point Lower Emplacements for two 12 pr. Q.F. Guns. £4,000 Lymun Central Platforms Magazines, for two 6" B.L. Howitzers. £1,500 Storage for six machine guns for general defence. £830 £12,230
