MY LORD,

With reference to paragraph 3 of a letter, dated 27th February 1897, from

the Colonial Office communicated to this Government with a letter from the

Assistant Secretary, Revenue and Statistics Department, India Office, dated

5th March 1897, regarding the adjustment of the half salary payable by the

Hongkong Government to Miss McIntosh, who volunteered for nursing duty

in connection with the plague, we have the honour to forward the accompanying

copy of a letter from the Accountant General, No. P.A.-17633, dated 18th

September 1897, and to request that your Lordship will be so good as to cause

the necessary steps to be taken to recover the amount of Rs. 552-10-0 from the

Hongkong Government.
