I saw a Clerk from the D.D. about this on Thursday; the Report which Major Reade & Dr. Yersin are preparing is still incomplete & I Reade had asked three weeks extension, they could grant the same to Dr. Lawson though he had not applied for it.
Dr Lawson is receiving very high pay from India, & there is no objection to referring this proposal, but I suppose if he applies later on for leave from Hongkong we shall have to grant it.
Reply that the Govt. has no objection, & inform C.A. abroqueul Paper that with reference to our letter of the 26th ult. that 1/97 Dr Lowson's special services under the Govt. of Hongkong.
