Sir,
With reference to Mr. Lucas' letter of the 20th instant, I am directed by the Secretary of State for India to inform you that the balance of pay due to Dr. Lowson up to 6th August at the rate of £228 per annum will be paid to him on application to the Accountant General of this Office. The terms of his employment while engaged in preparing a report upon Bubonic Plague in Western India were communicated in Sir A. Godley's letter of the 20th of July this month.
