I have the honour to enclose a copy of a telegram
which we received on the 9th instant from the Government of
Hong Kong relative to the supply of 2,500,000 ten cent pieces fortnightly until further orders, in substitution for an
indent which was on its way and which has since reached us
11th March/97 and a copy of which is also enclosed.

The supply of coin already shipped, under the
standing order of the 14th May 1894, for the current year
is $100,000, and as the supply ordered by the present tele-
gram will soon reach the annual supply of 1,000,000 dollars
authorised by the standing order above referred to, we have
to request the sanction of the Secretary of State to the
execution of the amended indent.
