I think C. A great should inform the your by telegraph that $1,000,000 is the limit of subsidiary com which may be supplied without special Treasury Authority and the reason for the present Indent should be asked.

The Colonial Secretary's letter seems to regret that payments fortnightly in addition to the $100,000 already supplied & $300,000 to arrive by 15th July. Various fortnightly instalments would therefore have exhausted the Million Authorized. Instead of this they now telegraph...

16 & L(x) −21793 −3350---00 for $250,000 fortnightly in addition to $100,000 already supplied. Those fortnightly instalments would in this case nearly Exhaust the million. Both the demand clearly requires some explanation.
