unable to admit the principle that married officers are entitled to special consideration from the Government, but apart from this, I may mention that Dr Clark, Medical Officer of Health, and Dr Thomson, Assistant Surgeon, both of whom are married men, are in receipt of an allowance of $60 a month in lieu of quarters, and, so far as I am aware, have not found that allowance insufficient to secure residences in suitable localities.
