service of ment in the this Government, and that on the recommendation of the Director of Public Works and subject to your approval, I have appointed Mr. Chan Ashing, late foreman in the Ordnance Store Department, to the vacancy at the salary attached to the post, viz: $720 per annum.
Mr. Chan Ashing has furnished satisfactory references as to his antecedents, and the security required.
The Director of Public Works recommends that the newly appointed officer should be styled "Head Store Keeper" instead of "Compradore" as hitherto, the latter title being, in his opinion, a misnomer in view of the nature of the duties attached to the office, and I beg to endorse that.
