The lease of the house used as a summer residence for the Governor during my term of office expires on the 31st instant, and that being unable to obtain satisfactory terms for its renewal, this Government has rented another residence for the purpose on a 3 years' lease.

The accommodation at the new residence being somewhat limited—consisting of four bedrooms (with bathrooms adjoining), a dining room, a drawing room—it will be necessary to make certain additions, which the owner is prepared to carry out, and in order to provide sufficient accommodation for my successor next summer, before I leave I shall be glad to learn by telegraph what Sir Henry Blake's requirements are likely to be in this direction.
