their cases afforded them every chance of escape in case of
any investigations.
The Canton boat and the expenditure of less
than a dollar would place one of the links in the chain of
evidence, out of the jurisdiction and we know that many such
"links" left for Canton as soon as the gambling house was
exposed. They will return when the cases are over.
