This is to certify that William Batter, Bow Street Division joined the Metropolitan Police as Constable on the twenty-fifth day of October 1869 and resigned his situation on the twelfth day of December 1872.

Inspector Batter has been doing duty as Acting Superintendent of Markets in this Department for eight months, and I have much pleasure in certifying that he has performed his duties to my entire satisfaction.
I have always found him a most willing, intelligent and reliable Officer, and I am sorry owing to the appointment of an Superintendent of Live-stock, this Department is to lose his services
