will take the necessary steps
for awarding these retiring
Allowances.
4 As our officer is already in
this Country I have instructed
the C.A to pay
him pending
the settlement of his Pension
and subject to adjustment if necessary
an Alimentary Allowance at
$180 per annum at 3/8 the dollar
the rate of £45 per annum
from the 25th December last
inclusive, that his half-pay
leave having expired
on the preceding day.
5 I have informed Mr ... Iver
that his Pension will be
granted to him
on condition
of his not returning to
Hongkong
and
that in the
event of his returning to
the Colony he will be liable
to have it withheld
6 If Messrs Macaulay & Graham
are still in the Colony I request
you to inform them that their
respective Retiring
Allowances
will be awarded them
on
the condition
of their leaving
and not returning
to it.
