Plan No 1 is made to show a convenient connection with another road called Station Street leading to Yaumati, which will be shown on Plan No. 2, but I would point out that there is a rise and fall of 14 feet in Station Street in excess of that encountered going along MacDonnell Road. Formerly, the hill to be surmounted in Station Street was 34 feet high but a few years ago it was cut away so as to reduce it to 14½ feet. It would not be practicable to cut it away to a greater extent without encroaching on the War Department and other properties adjoining the road and even assuming that this could be arranged, the cost of the cutting would be very heavy.

It may therefore be taken for granted that the main route for traffic will continue to be along MacDonnell Road and it should be borne in mind that Yaumati and the villages beyond are developing rapidly and that this growth has been largely fostered by the improved means of communication established within recent years.

The only regular ferry service from Hong Kong to Kowloon makes Tsim Sha Tsui its point of call. The service is carried on at intervals of 10 minutes during the greater portion of the day, a fact in itself indicative of the amount of traffic conducted, and it is not unreasonable to suppose that, before many years have passed, a line of tramway will be laid down to the principal villages.
