I told him that the statements of the two above mentioned Chinamen would be forwarded to His Excellency the Governor of Hongkong.
23. I then was told I could go and I left the gaol. 24. I say that I never saw or had
25. any communication dealing with either of the two above mentioned Chinamen before the said 18th day of October last and it is absolutely untrue that I received the sum of $10 a week or any other sum or sums of money from both or either of them.
I have never received money from any other person or persons firm or firms for gambling houses or gambling stores by way of tribute. And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true, and by virtue of the provisions of "The Statutory Declarations Act, 1835."
Declared by the declarant Wutter Singh at Victoria in the Colony of Hongkong this first day of November 1897 through the interpretation of Formoosa Ruttonjee.
Formoosa Ruttonjee having been also first declared that he had truly, distinctly and audibly interpreted the contents of this document to the said declarant and that he would truly and faithfully interpret the declaration about to be administered unto him.
