In reply to your minute of the 3rd instant

on Colonial Office Despatch No.137/97 respecting Female Prison,

I have the honour to forward the following report.

1. The most urgent requirements at present at

the Victoria Gaol, are more room and more single cells for

female prisoners, including hospital accommodation in the

same block for females.

2. At present females are accommodated on the

ground floor of the extension to the east of A wing where

there are 6 separate cells and 5 association cells,

3. The floor above this is now the male hospital.

4. The officers of the Gaol are at present accommodated on the first and second floors of the entrance

block, but when the new quarters for officers are built on
