the Victoria Gaol, there in referred to, and known as Inland Lot No. 44, has
now
been
acquired by this Government at a cost of $50,000 in connection with the Gaol extension scheme.

It is proposed to build new quarters for the staff on the newly acquired site, which, besides being in itself a very urgent requirement, will enable the improvement of the hospital accommodation and the extension of the accommodation for female prisoners in the Gaol.
I enclose a copy of a report by the Director of Public Works containing details of the proposed improvements, which appear to be satisfactory.
