the opium monopoly which has been leased out as from the 1st March next at a rental which exceeds that at present derived by $86,000 per annum, the expected large receipts from sales of land in Taipingshan and elsewhere, and the increase anticipated from assessed taxes.
You will also observe, on the other hand, that the charge for light dues has been reduced from 2 1⁄2 cents to 1 cent per ton and that the receipts from this source are expected to show a decrease of some $70,000.
The other items of revenue which show an increase or decrease are referred to in my address, and it is therefore only necessary to direct your attention to an apparent discrepancy in the revised estimate of revenue for the current year.
