of such coins is desirable
on
account
not only their great
of
convenience
to the mercantile
community but also because the
profit derived from them
was an
form of the
-important
"the revenue
item
of the
Colony, Notwithstanding the
comparatively large supplies lately imported into Hong Kong, the requirements of the public have not been satisfied,
and a much larger quantity of coins could have been disposed of. As the Government makes a profit on the issue of these coins it is evident that if the supply is not equal to the demand a loss to the revenue must result.
