Yeung Kai cross-examined by A. S. Macaulay states:-

I was employed for 7 or 8 months by the master of the Cheung Bing Street house. I was first employed in the first month of last year and ceased to be employed in the 7th, or 8th month last year.

Previous to being employed at the gambling house I was employed as a clothing hawker.

I hawked the clothing in any street in Hongkong.

I used to sell clothing also in Canton. I bought the clothing last year from the Yu Yun Shop in Hollywood Road.

Previous to this year I bought the clothing in the Man Li Shop at West Point in the Queen's Road.

The clothing I bought was new clothing.

The Yu Yun Shop only sells new clothing.

I have been hawking clothing for 4 or 5 years.

Previous to hawking clothing, I was in the country.

I came to Hongkong 7 years ago.

I had no licence to hawk clothing. I did not hawk in the street.

At first I hawked in the street. Afterwards I bought for Canton. I have been a hawker without a licence. I am a travelling merchant now. I was a hawker without a licence.
