Yard in Hongkong, I have the honour to submit for approval the scheme set forth in the enclosed joint report by the Commodore, the Senior Military Officer, and the late acting Director of Public Works, Mr. Chatham.
2. This scheme differs from the original one in that it is proposed not to widen Murray Road at present for the reasons stated, and ultimately only to a width of 50 feet, which is considered adequate for the requirements of public traffic along that road; on the other hand, it is proposed to extend the widening of Queen's Road (to a uniform width of 75 feet) from Arsenal Street to the City Hall, this effecting a junction with Des Vœux Road, which has likewise a width of 75 feet, and to widen Arsenal Street to 75 feet as originally intended.
