With reference to my letter from the Liverpool Police, as Mr Hadley will shortly be proceeding to that place for a course of training in Police work.

A copy of this letter has been communicated to her Madeley, who should, as is usual in such cases, be refunded his expenses & also be paid full instead of half-salary for the time actually occupied in the work of selecting the men.

I am directed by Mr Secretary Chamberlain to inform you that Mr Secretary has reportedly by telegraph asked the C.A with regard to the engagement of ten European Constables for the HongKong Police Force, & has asked that Sir be instructed to suggest to you that they should be got.
