San Yin states: -The papers produced are the daily account slips which were kept at the gambling house at No. 2 Wa Lane.
The first part contains an account of the expenditure & receipts of each day.
I wrote the first part and struck a balance daily, which was carried into the books.
The latter part shows the bribes paid daily at the gambling house. This part was written by Lam To & Lo Ma, the bankers. These bribes were paid out of the bank. Their amount was therefore not carried into the accounts. The balance in the bank at the end of the day was entered in the daily account.
The Indian Police were all paid direct from the gambling house. That is why their numbers appear only in these daily account slips.
