Tse book states:- I am 25 years of age. I am at present employed as a shopman in a wood and timber dealer's shop in No. 17 New Street. I was formerly employed as a watchman for the gambling house at No. 2 Wa Lane. I was employed by Sam Yin three years ago. I ceased to be employed on the 19th of the 5th moon (13 June). The gambling house was closed on that day. My wages were 20 cents a day and 10 cents a day for food. My duties were to watch at the entrance of the lane in Hollywood Road. Sometimes I watched the Lascar Row entrance. My duty was to watch the Police and give the alarm to the gambling house. I have also had to pay bribes to some of the Police. I only paid two Indian Sergeants.
I recognise the Indian Policeman present. He is Indian Sergeant No. 547. I do not know his name. I know his number because he told it to me.
Last year in the 2nd moon I began to pay him. He used to come to the entrance to the lane and strike the fokis. He then asked for money. He said that if he did not get money he would drive away the fokis and the gamblers.
The first time that he asked for money he asked me. He was on duty in uniform at the time. It was in the second moon of last year. He said "You better pay me a dollar
