made for the removal to England of the Female European Prisoner, Edith May Wallowell Carew, by the Peninsular and Oriental steam ship Sumatra which leaves "Hong Kong
on or about the 16th instant and is due to arrive in London on or about the 27th proximo.
The prisoner will be placed under the custody of ex-Police Sergeant Sholp's and Mrs Wardress in the Victoria Gaol, and she will proceed to the terminal port London.
Phelps is not returning to Hongkong, his connection with the Police Force having ceased, but Mr Lewis should return to the Colony by an early Peninsular and Oriental intermediate steamer, and I shall be glad if the Crown Agents will assist her.
