In jumping through the other versions of papers, we can deal with this repeatedly. But I rather doubt the matter should be justified in suspending his salary, although there is in existence a Police order in Kongkay which overrides the Circulars, in such cases.
If more detailed information is received, we are in the position of being able to inform him accordingly. Moreover, because of fear of his salary, I don't suppose the stretched circumstance would have queened submissions.
I would therefore write to the Canton agent telling them to stop the payment of his salary until further advised.
We shall receive a despatch in about a month's time, and by that time it will be clear whether there is a case.
