spend 6 months engaged on Police work I should be all the

better pleased.

Now I submit that while attached to a Police

Force Mr. Badeley will be put to considerable expense. He will

have to reside in some town at his own expense instead of

residing with his family with board and lodging free.

Moreover he will have plenty of work to do

and his time will not be his own.

I submit that Mr. Badeley should be allowed

full pay while attached to a Police Force, and I trust that

His Excellency the Governor will adopt the same view and

address the Secretary of State on the subject.

The above views are but a repetition of what

was recommended in my letter No. 269 of the 19th of November

last (CSO2664/96).

I have, &c.,

(Sgd.) F.H. May.
