Utter Singh present.
Sam Yin states: The paper produced is a
list of persons to whom I paid bribes in respect of the Wa
Lane Gambling house.
There is an entry referring to a Policeman
No. 586. It is the entry *572 586 155". That means that
every day I paid for 572 and 586 $1.55 a day to A Leung.
A Leung was a watchman in my employ. His sur-
name is Tse.
No. 586 was an Indian Sergeant. He wore a red
sash. The other Sergeants do not wear sashes.
The payment was begun the year before last.
It was continued up to the time that No. 586 was dismissed
from the Police.
He was dismissed at the end of last year.
I made the payment because he came and asked
my watchmen for it.
Tse Leung spoke to me about it. He asked for
70 cents. I paid him 70 cents.
