Sam Yin states:- I am a prisoner in Victoria Gaol undergoing a sentence of 9 months imprisonment for keeping a common gaming house at No. 2 Wa Lane.

I do not know the Sergeant present.

Among the papers seized at No. 3 East Street is an entry referring to No. 8. It is on the list of persons to whom bribes were paid. The list produced is the list. The entry is "No. 8 $5". That means that 50 cents a day were paid to the "boy" A Fuk for European Sergeant No. 8.

A Fuk formerly was a servant to a European. Now he has a share in the Yan No Boarding House on the Praia.

No. 8 had been to disturb the place (Wa Lane). That was two years ago. I did not see him disturbing the lane myself. My folks told me. Then the "boy" A Fuk came and said that No. 8 had sent him.
