-ation the liability for Sam Yin to make an error as to a date when he has had to give evidence in so many cases (10 at least) against various Police Officers within the last two or three weeks, I am of opinion that too much importance should not be attached to the evident mistake in this case.

The question is did the Acting Inspector at any time receive money in respect of the gambling or did he not.

I can only repeat that I believe in the genuineness of the list of bribed persons, and that I believe Sam Yin.

I am forced to the conclusion therefore that Acting Inspector Hall did receive money in respect of this gambling house.

I attach copy of his character roll and skeleton Pension paper to show his length of service etc.

His present period of service expires in December 1898.

For pensions purposes he is a 10 years' man.

I consider that whatever else may be done in his case on no account should he be re-enlisted when his time expires.
