Ex 22 OV 7

I forward copy of statement made by San Yin in

Inspector Mann's presence, and of Inspector Mann's reply.

229

You will observe that that this statement of San

Yin differs somewhat from that made originally by him in July last

when he made his general statement.

In his first statement he is not quite sure

whether No.89 is an Inspector or a Sergeant.

In his second statement he says he is an Inspector

In his first statement he said the payment had

been going on 3 or 4 years and had been golog on up to the time

Sam Yin was arrested. He added that he thought he had gone bone

and had not returned.

In his second statement he said that he paid money

for Inspector Mann up to the time that the latter went to England,

but had not paid money for him since his return.

He also could not remember the Inspector's name

although he remembered it in his first statement.

From April 1893 to June 20th. 1894 Inspector Mann

was at the Central Station and in charge of the gambling section

in which Wa Lane is situated.

This fact corroborates both statenents.

Year

The 8th. Chinese moon in the Plague would be Jaly

1894.

From June 1894 to April 1895 Inspector Mann was at

Shaukiwan
