The sub-committee, having carefully considered the cases numbered 1 to 12 in the annexed schedule, now here referred to them for report, made the recommendations respectively set forth in the last column of the schedule. The sub-committee are not sure whether they were desired to make any recommendations as regards the cases of the Indian Constables, but if so, they recommend dismissal in the cases set forth in the schedule.
As regards the cases Nos. 1 to 10, the sub-committee are of opinion that the men, being under grave suspicion should not remain in the Force, but at the same time, in view of the absence of certain links in the chain of evidence they do not think the men's pensions should be taken from them.
In two or three cases where the man's retirement, at the present time, would deprive him of any right to pension, they are of opinion it would be equitable to grant such a proportion of the pension he would have earned had he been allowed to remain on to the termination of his present current 6 years' period of service, as his present length of service bears to the number...
