I have obtained from the Tung Wa Hospital Clerk the statistics of the months of April, May and June of 1896. The figures are much lower than those of this year, and are as follows:-
Men Women Total Under treatment, 1st. April 96 103 17 120 Admitted April - June 96 271 43 314 Total number treated 434 Discharged 188 26 214 Died 77 22 99 Total 313 Remaining, 1st. July 96 109* 12 121 Brought in dead for burial 25 26 51I have requested Dr. Chung to make a list of the cases he treated during the quarter, and append his list.
Re your note on the treatment of dysenteric patients, this is part of much that is not entirely according to western ideas in the Tung Wa. I have directed Dr. Chung to do his best to rectify this particular matter, and improvement has already been made.
