I, Tseng Yuet Po of Victoria in the Colony of Hong Kong do solemnly and sincerely declare
1. That I was Interpreter to Thomas Hore, Inspector of Nuisances. With reference to the statement which I made to the Crown Solicitor with regard to this matter I say that at the request of the keeper of the gambling house at Wa Lane I on two occasions offered Inspector Hore payments of money on behalf of the keeper of the said gambling house but on each occasion Inspector Hore refused.
2. When I asked Inspector Hore's mistress on the first occasion to accept money she refused but when I asked her a second time she agreed to accept $1 per month herself but she asked me not to let Inspector Hore know as she would get into trouble if he knew,
3. I paid her the money privately every Monday morning when Inspector Hore was not present. The amount was afterwards increased to $2 per day. I never told Inspector Hore that I was paying any money to his mistress and I was very careful not to let him know this and to the best of my knowledge and belief Inspector Hore was quite unaware that I was paying any money to his mistress.
